Hawaii's Next Generation Of Leadership

Ikaika Anderson was born at Windward Oahu's Castle Medical Center on February 5, 1978. He was raised in Kailua by his grandparents, Whitney and Hannie Anderson.

Ikaika is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii (UH), Manoa. While attending UH, Ikaika was elected to the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii at Manoa (ASUH) Student Senate, where he served for four years, two of which as the Senate's Finance Committee chair.

While earning his degrees in both journalism and political science, Ikaika was simultaneously employed at the Hawaii State Legislature from 1997 to 2001. In 2002, Ikaika ran for the State House of Representatives, and lost a tough fight to Tommy Waters. It was on the campaign trail in 2002 where he met Council Chair Barbara Marshall.

While working in Barbara’s office as a legislative assistant, Ikaika also served five years on the Waimanalo Health Center board of directors, two of which as board president. He has also participated in numerous community activities throughout the communities of Kailua, Kaneohe and Waimanalo.

Ikaika is a lifelong resident of Windward Oahu and currently resides in Waimanalo. He and his wife Lisa have four children, daughter Tianni, 7, son J.W., 5, and twins, Kaleb and Kalii, 1. Both Tianni and J.W. attend school in Kailua.
