“If Roe v. Wade is ultimately overturned by SCOTUS, it is alarming that many states on the mainland already have laws in place or are poised to pass laws that will immediately ban access to the procedure for women. Hawaiʻi was the first state in the nation to legalize abortion procedures for women in 1970 and has supported women’s freedom of choice ever since.

I share in the late Governor Burns’ position that Government has absolutely no role in women’s reproductive rights. If elected as Hawaiʻi’s next Lt. Governor, I will strongly support our congressional delegation in seeking to authorize a national law, while also fighting to strengthen and protect Hawaiʻi’s laws to ensure women always have the right to reproductive decision-making authority over their own bodies.

As a father of 2 young women, I stand shoulder to shoulder with all women on this fundamental fight to protect their rights from these political grenades that want to take us all back 50 years.”
